ANITA C. LEIGHT ESTUARY CENTER - 2nd Annual BioBlitz!

Park naturalists and natural resources professionals from the Chesapeake Bay region participated in a scientific race against time as we staged our Second Annual BioBlitz. So what is a BioBlitz? It’s an environmental treasure hunt! Two fun-filled days of searching the park for plants and animals to document the different species that make their home in the park and Bosely Conservancy. It is designed to increase the public’s understanding of the variety of wildlife at the park. Sessions were conducted to inventory marsh plants, submerged aquatic vegetation, insects, birds (including an owl prowl), herps (snakes, turtles, and lizards), fish, and mushrooms.
